ExpoTv!

So who doesn't love technology? Blenders to blend smoothies, phones to text/email/take photos, and of course how would we be able to forget the world wide web? Well, if you're like me you're obsessed (and I mean OBSESSED) with all things technological. If I am able to, I try to buy the latest and greatest gadgets for just this reason (well, and who doesn't love the right to show off to their friends who are equally as tech-savvy?).

Enter Expo. Right now there is a "tryology" program available for Hewlett-Packard. If you don't know what Expo is, it's basically a free to join website that allows consumer-brand interaction. You upload a video of you reviewing a product (either one you have at home that they need reviews on, or one you purchase, or even one they send you free). They either approve or deny the video based on their strict criterion. You earn points and then these points are redeemable for prizes and contests. That's not the best part, though.
The best part is that if they send you a product, you get to keep the product. This makes me super excited about this tryology campaign. I love computers. I love applications/java/etc. I love learning how things work, and this looks like a GREAT chance to try out a touch screen, a laptop, or tablet that is from a brand I've purchased from in the past and has a long-standing reputation and that is willing to let consumers try their products.
I really , really, really want in on this! Wish me luck and sign up for yourselves HERE !

Long time, No Post & Bic Soleil Glow Review!

Ok, so, I haven't 1)fixed the blog up to my liking or 2)actually blogged in a while. I have been in and out of doctor's offices for health issues. That combined with the slew of symptoms I have right now are not exactly motivating me..Suffice to say that makes me feel like being lazy and relaxing (I HAVE to be in a stress-free environment until things improve for now). Anywhooooo , BIC SOLEIL GLOW!
Ok, so BzzAgent is a great website that allows users to interact and experience different brands that reach out to said consumers to get invaluable insight on their products (ie- is it comfortable in-hand, is it easy to use, etc etc etc). I was sent the Bic Soleil Glow razor (as part of a COMPLETELY FREE campaign hosted by BzzAgent(type the following to go look for yourself and sign up: www.bzzagent.com !) See a picture below of the razors!

Real-talk time. I love Bic. I love their Soleil line. However, we all know Bic Soleil is ridiculously expensive, right? WRONG! For once they actually have a decently priced razor! (6 bucks at Walgreens, vs the brand's habit of 9 and 10 dollar razors) This made me pretty happy, because I can't stand the cheap razors that are store brand (they leave too many hairs behind) and I can't really afford a 10 dollar disposable razor. So 6 bucks, while more than a store brand, is not as bad as 10. This gets this razor 3/5 stars for pricing (because we can still get cheaper, but the quality is worth it).
PROS:
This razor has a pivoting head and a "comfort shield". This means that the razor is hinged in a way that allows it to fit the contours of your body while still having a comfortable barrier to prevent nicks in unpleasant places (think knees, ankles, armpits, and any sensitive areas). In this respect, I think BIC has the range of motion to a science(not too much movement, not too little), and in contrast the shield seemed a bit bulky. I wish the shield would have made it just slightly less awkward to get a close shave.
As a side-note, the 3 blades (while giving me a close shave) have a habit of giving me slight razor burn if I am not cautious.
This razor comes in many fun colors and has attractive packaging. While not necessarily, well, necessary, it's always good to have interesting/fun colored products available. It's so dull buying a razor that's the same cheap-pink-plastic color. The packaging is eye-catching, with fun color swirls and bold type being utilized and not detracting from the cute razors. Speaking of colors, I received following: Purple, Pink, & Green.
CONS:
The only Cons are that the shield is a bit bulky, and the three blades can sometimes cause me a bit of razor burn.

So, if you factor in fun packaging, usefulness, ability to get a close shave and that useful pivot while detracting for razor burn and a bulky shield I would say this razor is a solid 4.0 out of 5!

I will be putting up a review in a short while of Paula's Choice Clear Acne Kit (which will also be GRATIS). Seriously, you guys need to try this razor out,and join in on all the Bzzzzz! *I gave all the coupons away, hooray!*

Changes are coming!

I took a break from blogging here on SuperGirl Reviews for a specific reason: I had to find a way to clear my head and evaluate how I was putting my reviews out. I didn't like the format, and felt them too lacking in description and helpfulness. I wanted to change that but didn't know how. So I took my break hoping to shed light on ways to improve. While I still feel I leave a lot to be desired (for NOW) in reviewing products, I know with time I will get to the place I need to be in. SO, changes are coming! I want to rename, revamp, reduce, reuse, recycle! (Sort of kidding about the last three as far as this blog goes..Unless someone has ideas on blogging about recycleables :P )

What I Aim To Accomplish:
1. I want more in-depth, personalized, helpful, content-driven reviews.
2. I want to (eventually) reach out to companies for products to test (and when I get more experienced and do this step I'd like to get products to give away to you lovely readers, too!).
3. I'd like to make this my job, instead of just a hobby I love.
4. I want to take this blog from the incoherent, garbled, messy blog it was and re-vamp it to make it spectacular and professional.

Well, look for upcoming changes and I hope you all have a very, very, Merry Christmas!

Influenster Sweetheart Voxbox!

Hello, Ladies and Gents!
Sorry for the brief hiatus, I've been so so so busy! Today's post is about Influenster! More specifically, the Sweetheart Voxbox I received (for free!) this past February. I waited to do a review until I felt I'd used the products enough to gather a genuine opinion on them. I will post some pictures below of the products in the box:

The products included were: Olay Fresh Effects: Va-Va-Vivid, Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Hair Spray, Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant, and SkinnyGirl Daily On-The-Go Bar! I was skeptical about the bar, but more on that in a moment.

OLAY FRESH EFFECTS VA-VA-VIVID: This little beauty came with both a small cleansing brush that uses a single AAA battery and a small tube of cleanser. The cleansing tool is small, compact, and waterproof (bonus). I've been using mine when I take a hot shower so my pores are opened up. It's head has a triangular shape to it with mini bristles (plastic) and it vibrates side to side. The cleanser smelled pleasant, it sort of reminded me of a new magazine for some reason. It was a soft, pleasing, scent though. I used this every shower and I did see some clearing up on my face and I also saw my skin seemed to be a bit more...Vivid. The product, as much as I loved it, would not wow someone looking for immediate and extreme results. I'd recommend this to someone who, like me, has barely any acne and their face is not too dull to start with.

Not Your Mother's.."Beach Babe" Hair Spray: Ok, first I would like to add a before note stating NO products EVER work on my hair..Ever..It's why I don't bother and leave my hair au natural. That being said, this product promised to give the user beachy hair that looked as though you've just gotten home from the beach. On my sibling, this actually did work well.. On me ( who has butt-length, thick hair)it did nothing at all.. Maybe it added a slight wave..However my hair is already wavy and it may have just been my imagination. IT does work on as I said my sibling's hair and she had AMAZING beachy waves. SO, I don't recommend this to my fellow longer-haired (or maybe it's thick-haired) lady socialites.

Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response: -Weird but true fact, I happen to have weird reactions with deodorants where my underarms itch insanely (it is the same for a spray, a solid, or a gel)- I was nervous about trying out my umpteenth deodorant, because of the effect they have on my underarms. I was also afraid it might wear off too easily. While the deodorant DID make my underarms itchy (it hasn't had that effect on my sibling, whom I lent it to hoping to see if it was only me or not) it also worked amazingly.. Better than any deodorant I've used. I plan on actually purchasing this item, because the citrus scent is pleasing and not overwhelming, and the deodorant is amazingly long-lasting! I give this product my A+ seal of approval (in spite of itchy underarms!)

SkinnyGirl Daily On-The-Go Bar: Ok, so, I looked at the packaging and thought : this is pretty simple packaging, hopefully it means the product is worth the simple (but effective) packaging. I am a stickler about my "healthy" snack bars. I am a foodie at heart, and would rather be fat than eat cardboard. Anywho, I needn't have been trepidatious as this bar was pretty nommy. It was a peanut butter and coconut blend (weird isn't it?). I thought I'd hate it and ended up enjoying it. It had a good texture, and good flavor. You could taste both flavors equally well and it even satisfied me (go figure!). I liked this product the second best in the box (after the deodorant).. WOULD RECOMMEND!

So that has been my experience with the Influenster Sweetheart Voxbox! Pond's Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes Review

I think this product deserves its own "mini-post". In the midst of all the things I get to try out thanks to amazing programs- like BzzAgent,Influenster,Smiley360, etc - sometimes I forget to mention the items I've been using and raving about (and paid for) that are literally beauty staples for me! That brings me to Pond's Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes ; probably my favorite product (and LOOK at that packaging!) besides their Dry Skin Cream.

So, what does it do? Simple: Pond's Luminous Clean is infused with Kaolin clay and some moisturizing ingredients (for obvious reasons). It is supposed to act as a magnet that pulls all those deep-down impurities out of your pores after a long day (or even a lazy sick one).
It's such a simple, revolutionary idea to have it in a foamy towelette that requires no rinsing! All that you have to do to use this product is peel the small, convenient flap back revealing the foamy goodness. Then you simply pull one sheet out and swipe it all over the designated area (your face). And, voila!

Even though quite often I do get free products from a review panel/product testing panel, this item is something I happened upon in January and bought (4.69 at Target, but I buy mine at our local Giant for the same price!). I will definitely keep spare packs of this available in my beauty pantry for daily use. It has such an interesting texture, mild and pleasant scent, fun and sudsy towelette topped off with no rinsing required! Sign me up!

Ps- I find that using this with my cult favorite from Pond's (Dry Skin Cream)makes the perfect duo. (It's perfectly moisturizing!)

Thanks for reading!

Neutrogena (R) Cosmetics BzzzzzWorthy Review!

Hello, ladies! Do you love makeup as much as I do? If the answer is yes, let me direct you to NEUTROGENA COSMETICS! About a week ago, I finally received my much anticipated Neutrogena Cosmetics BzzAgent kit (GRATIS, of course). I simply could NOT wait to test the products I was sent (images below):

So, I was sent:
Neutrogena® MoistureSmooth Color Sticks for sheer, shiny color that continuously conditions lips
Neutrogena® Healthy Lengths Mascara for 100% longer looking lashes
Neutrogena® Crease Proof Eye Shadows for 12-hour wear that instantly revives and brightens eyes
The colors I received were as follows: the Color Stick was in Sweet Watermelon, the Healthy Lengths Mascara in black, and their Crease-Proof Eye Shadows in Lasting Taupe and Constant Copper.
The Color Stick: I LOVE this product! It's a lot like a large crayon..for your lips! It's a fun product, and it has a simple design (with a watermelon scent, yummy!). The color is a soft pink that is sheer but still has some shimmer (on my lips it ended up being a nice nude color because my lips are naturally a similar color). The lasting power seems to be a bit lacking, but with how cute the applicator is and how yummy it smells I didn't mind whipping it out to re-apply! I genuinely think every lovely lady would enjoy having this in their purses / pockets (I will in fact be purchasing this in two other shades soon!).
The Healthy Lengths Mascara: It was a thick consistency in the standard black color. The packaging is sleek, but didn't wow me too much. HOWEVER, upon actually USING this product I was quite impressed with not only the staying power but the length it gave my short, stubby lashes. It lasted me around 6 hours (I also tested it with water and it smudged less than a normal non-waterproof mascara would). When I compare this to The Falsies (my recent go-to), it isn't as dramatic (which is good as I don't want to always look overly made up) and it looks natural . I recommend this for my natural look lovers!
The Crease-Proof Eye Shadow: I love constant copper.. I mean LOVE...It doesn't crease (YAY! An eyeshadow that lives up to its promise for an Italian is no minor feat!) it has slight shimmer and is buildable. The lasting taupe stick was nice for if I wanted more of a smoky look (hello, date night). It, too, lasted and did not crease. I am definitely re-purchasing the constant copper (the lasting taupe will last me as I don't do smoky eyes too often). If you have slightly oily / combination skin and have a little oil to your lids (awkward I know) this WILL last and it works amazing!
The Verdict:
-Would I recommend this to my friends/co-workers/family/other? YES, yes and YES!
-Does the product live up to the bzzzz? It does and THEN some. Way to go Neutrogena!
-Scores:
Mascara: 4/5 stars
Eye Shadows: 4.5/5 stars
Color Stick: 5/5 stars

Thanks for reading, lovelies!
